Help with subtitles

Hi there,

I’ve tried following the subtitles guides but can’t seem to make the subtitles appear in plex.

I want to used “forced” style for Game of Thrones for foreign language scenes. I’ve set my server up to get english ones from online sources, but i decided to find 3rd party files so it doesn’t include the english bits. I’ve tried rescanning the library but they don’t show. It works fine in VLC so must be something with how i’ve named them.

can someone help please? Just can’t get them to show up in the players…

Step 1: fix your folder structure/naming

Should be…

Game of Thrones
.. / Season 01
.. .. / Game of Thrones - S01E01.mp4
.. .. / ...

After fixing the names, you’ll need to re-scan your library (this might require to perform the „plex dance“).

Step 2: Control your library/agent settings

Make sure local media assets are enabled

thanks Tom. I have no issues with detecting the episodes, it’s just the subtitles. I will try what you suggest and hopefully it doesn’t break anything.

You didn’t mention what device you are using but you did say Plex does detect the subtitles if your using a Roku I believe you have go under settings accessibility —> captions and turn captions on for them to show up

Personally I use a program called XMediaRecode to embed the subtitle into the file then I also set the subtitle flag to forced if needed and just have Plex burn the subtitle into the media as i’m playing it then it does not matter what my captions are set to
