HEVC encoding turned on and still is using x264 and i5-7600

No idea, you can always drop in to safe mode and roll back if it doesn’t work.

Well, it resulted in this:

Yet, on the driver download page it said this:

Oh strange, you could try the other cab that’s the same version. Or maybe you need to be on that newer “Servicing update” of Server 2016, not sure how you get that.

Might need to install the latest servicing stack update (SSU) then a bunch of updates might just appear on windows update. Or that might require paying MS for the extended support as I think windows 2016 is publicly EOL

Maybe this Microsoft Update Catalog

Windows Server 2016’s mainstream support ended on January 11, 2022, but it will continue to receive extended support, including security updates, until January 12 2027, . After the mainstream support period, no new features or non-security updates will be provided.

But, yes, it appears a lot more would need to be modified than I would prefer to do just for this current situation (x265). Hopefully, Plex can come up with a solution instead.

I recommend Ubuntu Server, that’s what I’m using on my home server, everything works great :+1:

@Kilgry Could you please provide your PMS logs after reproducing this issue?

Hope to do so, but “life” is currently happening (illness, family, priorities, etc.) Thanks for your patience.

Does this build happen to address the issue?

Unfortunately, no. Sending logs to you.

Looks like you don’t accept private messages, so sent logs to Atomatth.

These were the settings:

Not sure what “HEVC Sources only” means, and didn’t try it.

STOP the presses…I used the wrong build! Sorry, thought you wanted me to use the new beta. You sent me another build. I’ll try it!!!

Sorry, busy day. Son had wisdom teeth out this morning.

Drat! Same result:

I should add, I’m testing only with the Roku (ultra - latest) now.

I restarted Plex before and after updating.

@Kilgry if you turn off HEVC transcoding does hw transcoding work? Looking theough your logs you appear to have a different error than everyone else. Did you try more than this one file?
