I’ve got about 20 friends setup on my plex but when they use the service their user name doesn’t come up in the history page & instead it just lists my Plex User name every time except for one user. Does anyone know why this would be the case and whether there is anything I can do ensure they get listed under their username. Without this its hard to know who’s using my system when I need to communicate something. It also seems to result in the last episode watch tags being incorrect if someone is watching the same show as me.
No, you don’t. You have 8.
I have to assume that all the others were just added to your own account. They probably told you their “link code” and you typed it in to https://www.plex.tv/link/ (while being logged into your plex account).
Another possibility is this:
You may have created a VPN which connects your shared users directly to your own home network. If you now have added your whole home network to
Settings - Server - Network - ‘Show All’ - “List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth” then every client that is inside your home network is not required to authenticate at all. Each unauthenticated client is then considered to be you.
If that is the case, you should have noticed a lot of items in the “Continue Watching” hub which were not put there by your own activity.
