Hmm, an invite error… Sorry, we couldn’t find the server that was shared with you

Currently having an issue where multiple invites that I’ve sent out are saying that they are unable to locate the server, when accessing the link in their email.

I’ve checked the server out, and sharing is enabled. Existing invites are able to access the server without issue.

@PlexSupport: What gives? Any ideas as to what is going on?

Please let me know what you need to troubleshoot this issue.

Yes, this is a duplicate thread, but I feel that we need a better explanation than just a workaround.

Also, I’ve tried having the user create their account ahead of time. Still no luck.

Could be their end. Have they tried a different browser?
BTW: M$ Edge sucks.

They’ve tried the following:

Mobile: Chrome and Safari
Desktop: Chrome and Firefox

And the new, Chromium based, Edge isn’t so bad. I’m more of a Firefox fan. I like to block trackers as much as I can.

Try and revoke the invites then send them again.

Tried and no dice.

I originally sent them an invite before they created the account, then tried again after they created their account. Finally, I had them try again, just now.

How? With their email address?
Try inviting them with their newly created username.

Yup. With their email address.

Tried it with their username, which also happens to be their email, same result.

Hello all! To re-iterate the fix that MovieFan.Plex recommended: You need to have an account created before the invite can be sent.

If you don’t the invite will fail because that user does not exist yet.

It may not be any help or assistance but I’ve come across this 3 times and the each time it’s been when my server has been under heavy load (multiple streams, reaching 75+ on CPU etc). Just experienced it now under the same circumstances. Again … Probably an isolated case but thought I’d chip in!
