So one of my users has disappeared from my Friends list under Users & Sharing.
When im trying to invite him i get the “Failed to sent invite” error. I have tried with Email and Username. And im not in his friends tab either.
Yeah i migrated my server and this user got “lost” he could still watch stuff on my server but he would show up as local user somehow. Since it worked i didn’t put much energy into fixing it but then sometime this last week he could not watch anymore and it just buffered.
I’m running in to this issue trying to send an invite to a new user (i don’t believe they have a Plex account). I also tried sending sending it to her husband and same issue. The logs don’t indicate any errors.
Do i need to ensure the uses has a Plex account first?
Theoretically not, but experience is showing a higher success rate if the user creates a plex account for him/herself beforehand.
(Often it has to do with users who use several mail accounts, who then click on the email link which was sent to one email address, but then try to create a plex account with a different email address)
Accepting an invitation is also more reliable when the invited user is doing it after having logged into plex.tv and going to the above link.
I’m having a similar issue as well. Last night, right after updating to newest synology version(1.19.1.2630), I was getting an error went trying to invite a friend. Now this morning, my invite worked & she received an email but when accepting, she got an error message.
I’ve attempted to send invites to the same user, but we created two different accounts in order to try to see if it was a one time issue. The email address resolves in the window to a valid plex account (icon and email address displayed). But I get the same Failed to send invite. message. Also, I do not get the link afterwards to copy and paste to the user like normal.
EDIT Actually, this is with all users. I deleted my test account [username]+test@gmail.com and tried to re-add it. I get the same error message I get when sending to the other account I was having trouble with. It appears that the issue may be systemwide.
I’m seeing this same issue running Version 1.19.1.2630 on the Mac. I was actually trying to resolve a different issue where the libraries I was sharing with my friend would be dropped every time the Plex server was restarted. I tried to delete him and re-invite him, but now I’m running into this issue.
