home movie metadata naming issues

Hi all,

Trying to setup my home movies ina category and the system keeps naming all the files the same name.  Thay are all very different names and are all .mp4.  I am running ubuntu 12.04.

 

I attached an example of what is happening. 

 

The category is setup as:

Scanner: plex video scanner

Agent: Personal Media

 

Under the settings area for personal media:

it lists personal media and then local media assets, both are selected.  I attempted to remove each of them and refresh the category, but it just starts changing all of the titles to the same name and scrolls through them until it gets to the last file.. 

 

an example of the name of the files are:

Honeymoon.mp4

Wedding reception.mp4

halloween 2010.mp4

and so on

 

I am really just looking to the name of the file to be the title of the movie in plex. 

 

I would be very greatful if anyone could provide any assistance.

Local Media Assets probably reads that information from the tags of the files. You can uncheck it to remove that information or fix the tags.

Any resolution on this?  I am having the exact same problem...running on Mac, but I anticipate the solution is the same
