For some reason none of my home user accounts (Kids) can cast from the plex app to any player (Sonos) . It can only play on the active device.
The main Account or Admin Account has Plex Pass and only this Account can stream to Sonos. Same for Plex Amp or all others.
I’ve been having this problem as well, after a few years of zero issues casting to my Sonos speaker on WiFi. I can eventually connect to it through Plexamp. It will show as connected, but when I play any artist, no matter where I start on that artist, Plexamp just goes to play a song - screen changes, song name pops up, and then Plexamp just bangs through every song on that album or list without playing - as tho the song is not there, or the content is finished, and eventually moves on to the next album or playlist… HOWEVER, if I go to my Sonos app and choose Plex, I can search and play anything just fine, as long as I do it through the Sonos app. This is new behavior that just started a few months ago. I have no problem connecting to other wifi and Bluetooth devices with Plexamp. It’s just Sonos for me
Have had this problem for a while also, have tried reconnecting Plex to Sonos vi a sonos webpage, but it did not fix it. If anyone has a complete procedure on how to fix this, it would be appreciated!
I had the same issue with when trying to cast to Sonos, skipping through the album and not actually playing anything. My issue transpired to be a combination of Remote access in the server settings, and having to port forward the Manually specify public port in the remote access section of the plex server settings, on my router. Once this was resolved, I was able to cast to my Sonos devices without issue.
The port which you have specified in the Remote Access section in the Plex Server, I had to open this port on my router via port forwarding in the router settings. Once this was done, I always had the green tick on the server settings for remote access, which allowed Sonos to connect properly.
I have this same issue as well and the documentation is quite murky on this one. It states that the managed accounts cannot use the sonos integration, which I fully understand that they cannot have their own sonos integrations with their own sonos accounts. However, there is no reason why they should not be able to use the primary admin/owner accounts integration in the same home.
Also there is a problem with invited home-users, according to the documentation they should be able to use the sonos integration, however I believe there is a bug in the code that checks subscription levels and even thought the home owner has a plex pass subscription the subscription check still returns these users as not being under a subscription. I have another thread about this as well, but no one from Plex has responded, and I do not believe there is another way than through the forums to submit bug reports unfortunately.
