I’ve been using Plex with DVR and terrestrial OTA for awhile now (I only get a single channel) and I’m looking into other solutions. I was wondering if there is a way to hook into the DVR functionality after a show has been recorded?
My goal would be to have files I PVR from somewhere else renamed by my own design (cron and bash) and then copied to said Plex “hot folder” and then let Plex do whatever metadata gather and library sorting it can do based on my file name I provide.
Thanks, I guess I should have elaborated. I want to use TV Shows from another source than DVR and have comskip.sh or whatever post processing script is specified run against these files before they’re inserted into my library or “hook” into the existing DVR functionality but with an outside file or file source.
I’ve heard about the .grab directories and see them in my file system, but am not sure they actually trigger anything to be executed?
nah unless that recording was sourced from the Plex DVR I don’t think you can utilize its functionality.
Your best bet is probably just run comskip outside of Plex on your recording and insert it after its all ready to go.
I did that with MythTV and NextPVR for years before Plex had their own DVR built in.
That is not a bad feature request if you wanted to submit a post as a feature request and get enough people supporting maybe that is something they can look to add.
