How Can Family Members Use Plex?

We have multiple Xbox One's in our house...  because Xbox live profiles are associated with each user, and a user can only be logged into one box at a time, every time I log onto the second Xbox (play a game while my kids are watching TV) they can no longer use PLEX on the main Xbox because I'm not logged in on that box...

On my main Xbox, which is designated as "HOME" I have the ability to share my gold account and content with any/all users that log in, with the exception of PLEX...  am I missing something or is this a missing feature?  Suggestions?

Thanks!

No your not missing anything, the only workaround would be to create a another Xbox Silver account and associate it with plex. This way its not tied to any user. Anyone could then go to your xbox and login as that person to access your content in plex.

The other option would be to have each person become a plex pass user to have access to the app with there own personalized content. Obviously that can get expensive, but you won't have to do this when the app is officially release, because at that point you could then buy the app for each individual account.

This is the way its designed to work

Thanks for the confirmation, I figured I wasn't imagining things...

Yeah, purchasing a PLEX pass subscription for each member of my household is crazy expensive and not something I'm going to be doing...

That said, having to purchase the app for every user (or create a new live account as a work around) also feel broken...  Rather than implement a work around, I hope that PLEX honors the existing Xbox app policies in place...

In the Xbox settings "make this my home Xbox" states:

"If you make this your home Xbox, people can play your downloaded game without having to sign in as you.  Plus if you have Gold, your whole household will get to enjoy online gaming on the most advanced multiplayer network for your home Xbox."

Right now all apps I have installed follow this same policy...  again, I hope PLEX honors that...  My current expectations are that I have the ability to roam my profile, logging into any Xbox with my user profile and have the ability to remotely connect to my PLEX server AND that my home Xbox always has access to the PLEX app regardless of who is logged in...  I can understand that this may not be available until the public release due to the PLEX pass subscription requirements while the app is in preview mode.

This is how it will work, plex will have no control over this aspect to change it as they are bound to the rules of the xbox store. If you buy it with your main home account it will be available to other users on your xbox. The way they have it implemented now however, your plex.tv account can only have one link to a microsoft account. So when the paid app comes out you could have free accounts for the rest of your family that would like to their microsoft accounts (xbox live) and only share what you want with those accounts. In the preview this is not really feasible due to the plex pass requirement, but I would be very surprised if when the paid app comes out my statements above aren't true.
