Trouble with multiple users on XBox

My wife and I both have an account on our XBOX One that auto logs in with the connect. Her account is sharing my Gold.

The issue we run into though is that it seems the our Plex account can only be registered to one XBOX Live account at a time. If I activate the player with my XBOX account and she tries to use Plex it makes her reactivate Plex. Then when I use it next time with my account it makes me activate it again.

The only thing I can think of to fix this is to have two Plex accounts but as you need to have a Plex Pass for the account that would be cost prohibitive. Any suggestions?

As of now the only thing I can think of is maybe create a third family account and have plex run on that and you can both use it. Just disable the auto login for that account via kinect and just switch to it manually when you wanna watch. The problem is that the Plex Pass account seems to be tied to a specific gamertag and not a specific xbox. It doens't play nice with the home gold sharing feature of the xbox.

Many people have the same issue. See this thread:

My wife and I are in the same scenario. Basically as long as you make sure the account that is linked is the active account when running plex it works fine. We don't have passwords on our accounts that you need to do each time so if I'm not home she logs in manually to use plex. She is not techy at all and has managed this setup for the time being just fine.

Can the new plex home feature be used to mitigate this issue?

Not right now, because the app doesn't support that feature yet. My guess it's there plan to update the app and add it in to solve this problem for everyone. But who knows when that will happen...

I'm looking for a work around, I have my 7 year old son who has an age restricted account off my Xbox One Gold account. Trying to set him up with a Plex account for age appropriate movies with his restricted xbox account. It looks like this isn't possible.

Any ideas?

To make it work, haven't tested with plex's new partental controls, but it will work with libraries:

1. You will need to create a plex.tv account for him.

2. Pay for his account to have plex pass acess

3. share your server to his account with only libraries that are kid friendly (duno if the new parental feature will work with it, you would have to test it)

4. On his Xbox account, sign in with his plex account.

There is one possible problem that would cause this not to work. It is my understanding that if the XBL account has age restrictions on it, then all content is locked in plex. So if your using that feature, then this work around won't work, if that is the case.

Again I have not tested any of this. If your using libraries to sperate the kid friendly content from non friendly content, the workaround I posted will absolutly work. But until the app is updated/changed. This is your only option as far as I'm aware.

Yeah, I have the issues stated here.  I have multiple accounts that need to access my plex server and I have to change the user to one that has been activated.  The really bad issue is that when my daughter walks into the room... then it logs her into the Xbox One and all content is immediately blocked.  Even though she is allowed to see content that is age appropriate.  I get it... this is a feature of Plex Home... Just need this to be resolved.  It makes using Plex a nightmare.
