I want to add media on a usb drive connected to my Windows 10 PC to my Plex Media Server installed on a Synology DS920+ NAS. Is the accomplished with SMB? I’m not familiar with that service.

Synology Docs: External Devices

  1. Read Synology documentation.
  2. Unplug the drive from the PC.
  3. Plug the drive into the NAS.
  4. Use Synology File Station to move the files where you want.

If this is more than a one-time thing, you can also mount the Synology shared folders on your PC (The Syno will appear as a drive letter).

You’ll have to enable SMB networking on the Synology, then use “map network drive” on the PC.

There are many sites on the Internet with instructions. Search for “mount Synology NAS on Windows 10” or similar terms.
