How can I add content to my media server from another computer not connected to the server?

Hello everyone,

Downloaded a Docker image of Plex on my RPi3 a couple of days ago. This is my first interaction with Plex and the Plex community.

So far, I’ve been able to add content (mostly pictures) to the server.

I have another computer that has a lot of pictures and home videos I would like to transfer to my Plex Server. Problem is this computer (for reasons I’m not going to discuss here) cannot connect directly to the network drive with the server.

Right now, I can run Plex on this computer and view pictures and home videos from the server.

Is there any way I can upload content (pictures and home videos) from my C drive, through the web application so they can be saved on the server?

When I try to add an album, system always goes back to the folders I have on the server.

It would be really good if I could add content from this computer, select the right folder on my C drive and get it done.

Otherwise, I would have to transfer content (about 85 GB) from this computer to thumb drives and start transferring the content in batches.

Any help will be greatly appreciated?

There are plenty of options. Just to name the most common:

(1) Use the SFTP protocol with the WinSCP client on your Windows machine

https://winscp.net/

(2) Directly access a network share of your Windows PC from your RPi with Samba or vice versa, i.e. create a Samba share on your RPi and access it on your Windows PC
