How can I get my virgin media TV subscription on PLEX?

Hi all!

Still loving PLEX! (still haven’t had a discount code sent to me for lifetime sub but that is another question lol )

Ok so I have just installed my HDHomeRun Quattro and it works great

The only issue is I have way less free to air channels that I was expecting

I have Virgin Media TV package with Skyone, BBC 1 etc, is there anyway I can get that content on my plex media like I have the HDHomeRun, I want to be able to record my paid channels etc, I have a V6 Virgin media box btw

Thanks in advice,
Ash

Hi,

No. The HDHomerun only sees/records Freeview OTA.

Where in the UK are you? My HDHomerun sees ~100 channels (not all of them great, but…)

…could you please change your title to something closer to the topic eg: “Can HD Homerun Quatro record paid-for channels”? It really helps people know whether they can contribute without having to click on every post

Thanks for the reply!

  • Ok will do, so what is the easiest/cheapest way to make this happen do you think?

I do not believe it is possible. However, BBC1 HD (for example) is channel 101 on Freeview and you must be able to get that??

Nope, it starts at channel 2 (see pic)

101 is 99 channels after 002

good point  however when I scrolled to that point its still not there :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Where are you? Your signal must be awful. Can you get normal TV (same transmitter is used)?

You might want to check your aerial is aligned. If still a problem, maybe you need a different aerial and/or think about an amplifier.

I’m in Stoke on Trent

I don’t use the normal areal as I have purchased and indoor one from amazon:

haven’t paid attention to which way it is aligned however as I didn’t know that was a thing

Indoor is never as good as outdoor, so that might be part of it.

Here is your transmitter location:

Can you align to it?

I will try when I get home and get back to you thanks

No worries,. That aerial looks OK, but not sure if it is directional or not.

Hi, I tested it yesterday and by chance it is already facing south towards my local tower

I have found a aerial port in the room my hdhomerun is in so I’ve ordered a long enough coax cable to test it to see if it gives better signal etc

I will be sending this indoor areal back its rubbish!

I don’t know if it is rubbish or not. If you feel happy enough to PM me your exact location, I can tell you how strong the signal should be for you (and whether an indoor aerial should work).

Just to let you know, I sorted it!

I had to run the coax from the wall port which is fed from an amplified external areial

Now im getting hunderds of channels inc bbc1 and all the HD ones too,

Thanks for your help!!

fab!!!
