How can i let each user have their own progress?

Hi,

I’ve been using plex and it’s working great, but i’ve added it on some family members TV’s but all the progress is shared. If were both watching the same series i want each of us to have our own progress.

Is this something i need to pay for? When i start the app on the TV it just asks me to enter the PIN i can’t actually login with a different account can i?

  1. Create plex.tv accounts for your family members (free, requires a unique email address for every account)
  2. Share your server with those accounts.

The alternative would be Plex Home, which requires a Plex Pass subscription.

Thanks, once they have the invite how do they choose which user to login as? All it’s asking me for is a PIN number

You must remove the client of this user completely from your own plex.tv account and instead conenct it with the other user’s plex account.
Naturally, this is only viable if the device is exclusively used by one user.

Quickly switching back and forth between user accounts on a jointly-used device is not possible, that is only possible with Plex Home.

Thanks for the quick replies. Not sure i understand though. When i open the app on the TV straight away it asks for a pin, I then login to my plex account and type that PIN? or do i need to login to the 2nd plex account and type the pin?

What kind of PIN? The one you might have set in your Plex account?
Without a Plex Pass, there is no real sense to have a PIN at all on your Plex account.

The app on the tv is already conected to your plex.tv account. You’d need to remove this link (Sign Out) and link the device to the plex.tv account of one of your shared users.

Ah okay, i get you now. So when it comes up giving me the 4 digit think to link it. I need to login to their plex account and enter the PIN under their login.

Is there any limits on how many users i can have?

Thank you.

Precisely.

You should stay well below 100.
