How can I merge 2 libraries?

So at one point I made a library simply “Movies”, then later made a “Movies 4K” for the small quantity of 4K movies I had. At this point, however, I have a ton of 4K movies and would like to just combine the two libraries (and I’d remove any dupes that are not 4K in that case it happens). I don’t want to have to fix metadata all over again, or “sort names” or anything else. When I just try to add a folder to the Movies library, it seems dumb and would have me redo every 4K movie I add to fix such things. Ugh.

For the path in your library, just add both directories and that would combine them. I have about 8 different directories I use for backup purposes and all 8 are under “movies”. As such, you can transfer titles between the directories inside your library and it really does not affect anything because it picks up the new path. Users don’t know you were changing file locations. I did that when I moved my TV Shows out from under movies and into their own root directory in the volume.

?? Maybe I don’t know what you mean. As I said, if I simply ADD the movies 4K folder to the list of folders that plain “movies” looks at, it is “dumb” and doesn’t see all the existing meta data and cleanups that I’ve done – ie, I’d have to fix things ALL over again. Where is the data kept and is it something I could easily edit in bulk?

There is no function to merge libraries.

Do the opposite if your 4K library is more important or has more items and edit that one and add the regular movies folder to it.

In the database files which are in the PMS folder

Not easy, You will need to be well versed in sqlite3 to edit databases directly This is no simple thing and I can’t provide instructions for it. You would need to use our custom SQLIte which the repair article has info on and what the database file names would look like.
