Is there a way to merge all these libraries into a single library without having to re-populate the metadata which will effectively show all existing movies as recently added also it will take forever! I was hoping for an option similar to when you select two items then Plex gives you the option to merge both.
There’s no way to merge libraries.
I can only see one way:
Delete all those movie libraries.
Then create one library new and add all those media folders to it at once ( before you hit ‘Save’ for the first time - this is crucial!)
So that all the movies get added in the course of the initial library creation.
In this case, Plex will use the date of the movie file as ‘Added at’-date.
Unless you copied these files in the mean time, they should still have the original file date from when you saved them into the media folders on your hard drive.
I have recently migrated the server to a new hdd including all media files so I don’t think this will work!! I have also made many metadata changes to these libraries which will obviously be lost and a nightmare to redo! In hindsight I should have initially created a single library for my movies, I did it this way because I thought it would be easier to manage (its not!!). Thank you for your answer btw…
