How can i properly name all 40 years of these dr who episodes that are in serial form?

I have a huge dr who collection that i want to rename properly but they are serialized like when they aired (IE in 30 min chunks) and plex thinks each episode has duplicates. I have file bot but don’t know if it can make heads or tails on how to do each episode in a order i can view them without resorting to folder view. Like episode one is name s01e01 episode name 01 then the rest end with 02, 03 04… but they all start with s01e01

I’m still getting the hang of this and don’t want to make anyone mad with my dumb questions. But thanks

I’d suggest just following the naming you see on TMDB or TVDB, like this: Doctor Who: Season 1 (1963) — The Movie Database (TMDb)

Be sure and follow Plex’s naming requirements for TV shows. You’ll need to keep the 1963 and 2005 shows in separate directories.

See Plex DocumentationYour MediaTV Show Files (Naming and Organizing)

/A TV Library <-- TV Library points here. Name does not matter.

../Doctor Who <-- The show that started in 1963
..../Season 01
....../Doctor Who - s01e01.ext <-- ext = mp4/mkv/etc
...
..../Season 26
....../Doctor Who - s26e01.ext

../Doctor Who (2005) <-- The show that started in 2005
..../Season 01
....../Doctor Who (2005) - s01e01.ext
...
..../Season 12
....../Doctor Who (2005) - s12e01.ext

It should be Doctor Who, never Dr. Who :stuck_out_tongue:

Doh!

And I was looking at the show in thetvdb.com as I wrote the post…

Thanks for catching my mistake.

Corrected.

No worries! Appreciate the help

I find “Rename My Tv Series” is a useful tool if you want manual interventions, where as FileBot is good at automated stuff.
