So, am I the only one fed up with how Plex behaves on a premium streaming device? How can Shield 2019 play 4K in every other app (even Kodi with Plex), and stutters/crashes on the official app (beta or non beta)? This issue goes on for months and no one has fixed it yet. Nvidia blames Plex for some kind of memory issues, but the end user just wants the problem solved… Can someone from Plex team just be a professional and tell us something? Being more vocal with your community should not be a bonus, but a priority.
Hopefully this gets somewhere. I’m having the same issue and regretting purchasing the tube version
Have you tried using the old player (disabling the new player)?
I ask because I’m on the shield before 2019 (lazy to look up the year) and a series I watch that I have in 4k 40Mbps stutters and stops with the new player enabled. When I disable it, it plays perfectly. I only have this issue with files with very high bitrates.
Old player may work for a while but eventually it will start to stutter and crash too. Seems that only force closing plex or rebooting the shield can get things working again (for a limited amount of time)…
In the Nvidia forums, official Nvidia reps said that the plex app has memory issues that they are working together on but no eta.
If you haven’t already disable the new player in the options on the client
The old one works fine after i did it
NB when the client updates it defaults back to the new player so you have to put it back to the old one.
