Server Version#: 1.32.1.6999
Nvidia Shield: 2897 (2017 version)
Player Version#: latest player on Roku
As reported in another post I just bought and installed a new current model Roku 4k+ Express and am trying to playback LiveTV from the PMS on my remote 2017 version Nvidia Shield. It isn’t working as the progress indicator hangs at 33% and eventually the player times out and cancels the playback. In looking into the problem I notice the server has rejected the direct play/mpeg2 request and is choosing the transcode. However I have the Allow MPEG2 setting enabled in my Roku player.
My question is does this setting only work in PMSs hosted on specific devices (not Nvidia Shields?). I.e. both the player and the server have to agree and my shield isn’t agreeing? If that is the case, any idea why the NVidia Shield doesn’t support this? If that isn’t the case, can someone clarify the specific function of this setting as the Plex online docs imply it “Allows direct streaming of MPEG2 for live TV and DVR when using original video quality”? Or are there other player settings I also need to enable to get direct play of my LiveTV working (note: I have both local and remote video quality set to original, I also have 10x upload and download bandwidth to transfer over the internet and 5x bandwidth to my roku).
Basically, how do I get non-transcoded playback of LiveTV on my new Roku using a remote PMS server running on a 2017 Nvidia Shield?
