How do I get plex to see the media in my shared folder?

Player Version#: 4.105.2, 1.32.0.6950-7000
I had my prerolls in /volume1/Movies/ but that resulted in them being considered separate movies in my library. So I moved them to /volume1/PreRolls/ and now Plex cannot see them. Similarly, I created volume1/Classes/ for my teachable downloaded classes, which are also not seen by Plex. What could I be missing so that Plex can find the files I’ve put in there?
