How do I disable seeing ads for the Tidal integration? I don’t want it, now or ever and am getting more then irritated by continued prompts about it. No should mean no. Seriously, I want this crap to stop asking me to use it. NOT INTERESTED. I am a Plex Pass for Life customer and should not have to deal with seeing this every time I login.
disabling it in your account settings should do the job:
https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/settings/online-media-sources
not sure what “ads” you’re referring to.
I don’t have it enabled. When I visit the Plex URL (https://www.plex.tv/) I am presented with a big banner “TIDAL Introducing streaming music powered by Tidal Level up…” with a large button “Start 30-Day Free Trial”. I am not interested in the trial or seeing this banner that requires me to cancel it EVERYTIME I LOG IN. This is EXTREMELY ANNOYING BEHAVIOR. Adding a “#” to the end of the URL does not help. This behavior is akin to Chrome’s “Google Chrome isn’t your default browser” message that is fixable by adding “-no-default-browser-check” to the shortcut. Both are intrusive behaviors and neither should require the user to make changes to shortcuts and/or URL’s (from default) to eliminate.
From the URL provided I added “/desktop#” (did not matter if “#” was included or not) and have now achieved what was intended, no more annoying Tidal announcements upon logging in. Again, this should not be this difficult. Add an option to “opt-out” please. Thanks!
Don’t get me wrong…
if you access Plex‘ Homepage you should not be surprised to be presented with information and updates on their products.
If you want to directly access the Plex Web App, make sure to use the respective URL (e.g. https://app.plex.tv/desktop)
If you want to work with O365 or Google‘s/Apple’s online office suite you also don’t access their company homepage and are surprised they show you other stuff as well
So your reason for forcing paying customers to click through ads (the practice of forcing ads upon customers) is because big tech does it? Lame. The levels of support provided by those organizations also happens to be approaching atrocious levels of incompetency.
While I understand Plex wants to make money you should be aware that forcing existing customers to click-through something they have zero interest in just for the sake of a potential sale is POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.
“Hey customers, we here at Plex are too lazy to present ads that don’t require interaction on your part and we don’t care about you, really, we only care about your money.” Sound about right?
I’m glad you got that one out of your system.
Sorry to hear you don’t share Plex enthusiasm on this new feature / integration.
Please let me know if I can help with some direct links so you can bypass the homepage.
I’m not quite sure I understand the OP issue… If you go to app.plex.tv doesn’t it bypass the Plex product page and take you directly to your Plex server interface? It does for me, at least…
yea the OP is apparently very confused about the difference between
- plex home page @ https://www.plex.tv/
- YOUR plex server dashboard @ https://app.plex.tv/desktop
