I have a standard setup, and I want multiple devices to be able to connect to the plex server on my local network without requiring login. Is this possible? When I try to manually setup plex on Fire TV it is unable to find the server when I use my local address.
You must tell plex server that it is OK for client not to authenticate themselves with a plex username and password.
Settings - Server - Network - (Show Advanced) - ‘List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth’
Here, either put all local IP adresses of the affected clients in (separated by commas, no spaces!)
or put the address of the whole local LAN into it (i.e. 192.168.1.0/24)
Afterwards, restart Plex server.
All playbacks by these unauthenticated clients are attributed to your own account.
