How do "manually" update PLEX on a WD PR4100 NAS device?

Server Version#: 1.26.2.5797

I get the following notification on the PLEX home page of my brand new (and as yet empty of content) Western Digital PR4100 NAS -
“Version 1.26.2.5797 An update is available. [Please install manually.]”

Following the link downloads a BIN file and nothing more? I see other earlier posts going back to 2017 referencing what appear to be similar problems - what is the next step to 1) actually update the software from a BIN file, or 2) get rid of this nuisance?

I am new to using PLEX, so any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks very much for your quick response - I am finding the learning curve for Plex to be pretty steep - and the support article database pretty difficult to navigate/search!

Well… that particular one is all on WD.
Once you’re dealing with Plex itself, you should find a lot of information in their knowledge base → http://support.plex.tv/articles/. There’s lots of them so it can be helpful to know if you’re looking for some guidance on a client, server settings, specific features or how to name media, then digging into the respective section.
