I’ve recently moved my Plex library to a DS918+ and have been looking for an easy way to backup the plex database (watched/unwatched status).
I can backup my media using Hyperbackup and I’d like to do the same with the Plex library folder. However, I see that it’s located at /volume1/Plex/Library and Hyperbackup cannot see it since it is not in a homes folder or a shared folder.
How do you backup your Library folder?

The faq has other links as well
Thank you for the link. However, it does not really answer my question.
Maybe I need to be more specific: I’d like to use Synology Hyperbackup to backup my Plex Library. Is this possible? And if not how are other Synology users backing up their library folder?
Method 1
- Make certain to give your Synology username permission to read the Plex share (Control Panel - Shared Folders - Plex - EDIT)
- Open Hybrid backup and select the destination.
- When you get to the source selection, click the checkbox
- Proceed normally (with PMS stopped)
Method 2
- With permission to access and
R/W in the Plex share
- Open File Station and navigate to the
Plex share
- Right-click
Library
-
Compress to Library.zip (also with PMS stopped)
The ZIP file may now be stored anywhere you like. It can also be used to clone the Synology installation
