Hi. I have some TV series set up to record new episodes only (so I don’t fill up my dvr with all the reruns). However, occasionally the system I have plex on will reboot and since Plex isn’t setup as a service, some recordings will get missed. When I try to record that individual episode that was missed, I try pressing the record button but it only allows me to make changes to the series recording. It won’t actually allow me to record that one missed episode. Does anyone know how to record a missed episode?
Thanks!
As far a recording a single episode while at the same time recording all the new airings, the answer is you can’t. You can either record single episode(s) or record a series. You can’t record specific episode(s) and a series at the same time.
In regards to your rebooting and missing recordings issue, you can solve that by configuring the computer (I am assuming you are running PMS on Windows) to auto-login using the user account that runs PMS. I did this and it works very well. This post details how to do this howtogeek.com/112919/how-to-make-your-windows-8-computer-logon-automatically/
Another option to fix your rebooting and missing recordings issue (although I have never personally tried this) is to run PMS as a Windows service. This post details how to do this coretechnologies.com/products/AlwaysUp/Apps/RunPlexMediaServerAsAService.html
The recording a single episode while series is setup used to work. I had commented on a post a couple of months ago in which the user was having this same problem. At that time the current version was working, and I provided some screenshots showing it working. In the newly released versions this ability has been broken. I am assuming it is a bug that was introduced somewhere in the 1.7.x versions. Perhaps a Plex employee @keithah or @BigWheel can let us know if they are looking at this issue.
Thanks All. sorry for the delayed reply. I’m new to the forums. As a workaround for now, I cancel the series recording, set the one episode to record, and then re-set the series recording.
