How do you restore a library you accidentally deleted?

I accidently deleted one of my libraries from plex and lost all my played up to info and on deck info. I have all the files backed up onto another NAS nightly. Is it possible to restore a file or group of files for the one library I accidently deleted?

You would need to restore the files and the database records.

The only real solutions for you are:

  1. Perform a full restore (of everything below Library)
  2. Recreate it

How do you restore the database?

I’ve recreated the library but it’s lost all the marked watched settings and such… Which is what I’m trying to get back.

If you have backups enabled in Scheduled Tasks, you can probably take that one.

The general steps are:

  1. Stop PMS
  2. Give yourself permission to access the Plex share
  3. Open it and drill down to the “Databases” directory
  4. Move the existing out of the way
  5. Copy the backup into position to take the place of the now-missing main DB
  6. Make sure ownership of the file is plex:plex (very important on Synology)
  7. Start PMS
  8. Update Everything to bring the DB back in sync with your metadata files — IF anything has changed / added / deleted since the backup
