+1 for me to
oh my… how can this not be implemented yet?
+1 to this feature being extremely useful, I’ve bought a pass and would love to share playlists with friends.
If you want to drive funding, premium features like these would certainly encourage persons to make the upgrade.
+1. I agree with hackwright, as I read through this post. I am using an Nvidia Shield and the only way I can share is to create a new library, which I do not want to do, it just pollutes the items in the top nav area.
I do not see that we can share playlists, which has been established. But we also cannot share collections with users of our system. Why not? A library may contain a lot of data we don’t want to share, or requires us to copy & re-organize the files. Why not create a convenient way to share content? For example “All Xmas episodes” to share any/all Xmas episodes of TV shows that are in your library? This is something I’ve yet to see from Netflix - after all, Friends, Frasier, Cheers, How I met your Mother and how many other TV shows that they have have Thanksgiving, Xmas, New Year’s, Easter episodes and more. I’d love to be able to watch "Xmas shows’ during the season.
+1. This would be a great feature. 235 replies and the thread is still active.
As a workaround, you can take the contents of a playlist, add them to a folder (de-duplication helps on your filesystem), and you can create a new library as the playlist in the meantime. (doesn’t scale well)
Would love this feature!! Add me to the list.
Also really want this implemented, you have my support.
I think the answer is just that if you try and play something from a playlist that you don’t have access to it gives you the message “You don’t have access to this item”.
Because I have a lot of weird media, and my friends trust me to curate it for them.
+1 for me too. Just made a Marvel watch-order playlist too, and was hoping it would show on my friends’ dashboard. Really surprised it doesn’t give an option/checkbox for [SHARED] or [LOCAL ONLY] or possibly [SERVER] or [USER] playlist.
Seems like a basic feature i desperately need.
+1!
I’ve written a module in PowerShell that can copy playlists from your account (as the server owner) to a friend you’ve shared libraries with.
Short example:
Copy-PlexPlaylist -PlexServerName myserver -AuthToken $AuthToken -CopyTo 'user@domain.com' -PlaylistName 'MARVEL'
Copy all playlists example:
Get-PlexPlaylists | Foreach-Object { Copy-PlexPlaylist -PlexServerName myserver -AuthToken $AuthToken -CopyTo 'user@domain.com' -PlaylistName $_.name}
Heart this post if you’re interested and if there’s sufficient interest I’ll prioritise cleaning up the code and adding some documentation and release it onto Github.
+1 for shareable playlists, please
Would the shared/copied playlists still be smart if the original playlists were?
I’ve figured out how to duplicate smart playlists, so yes.
+1 for shareable playlists, please
+1 music playlist sharing needed
+1, please bring this feature or at least a statement, why this isn’t possible. Can’t be unseen…
+1 for me too
how many engineers are needed to implement playlist sharing? more than 5 years worth of engineers work
