How find mismatched TV-Series?

I have a TrueNAS server running 25.04.0.
It has the Plex server app: v1.41.6.9685-d301f511a

Suddenly I have a problem with a TV Series: ”Nazis: Thread of Evil.”
Initially, I made a few mistakes, not added a “Season folder” and the shows
were names “Nazis Thread of Evil - s0e02.mpg”.
I fixed that so they were

Documentaries
– Nazis Threads of Evil
– Season 01
– Nazis Threads of Evil - s01e02.mpg
etc.

I removed the TV series, scanned the “Documentaries”, moved it back and rescan.
Nothing found.

This was not available on “theTVDB.com”, so I added it today. Obviously it won’t be available for a few days.

But when I look at the Documentaries library and select “not matched”, I do not find the show.
I suspect that it is wrongly matched, but to what?

I have a large number of TV series and I am absolutely clueless on how to find to what the
TV Series was matched to.

I added an episode and scanned, but after scanning, it did not
report anything in “recently added episodes”.

If I look at the folders in the Documentaries library, it is there.
If I looks at seasons, then it is not there.

I created a dummy TV-Show “Testa” with two episodes, and it was immediately matched.

I renamed the show from “Nazis Threads of Evil” to “Threads of Evil” and then it was found…
Obviously not matched.

Creating the dummy TV-Series “Nazis Testa” worked, and was added as unmatched.

Is there a way to search for a filename, and find out what it matched to?

What could be the problem, if it is not matched, but not reported as not matched?

Set the library view mode to “Episodes”. Then engage the “Duplicates” filter.
If there are any duplicates found, inspect their Plex media info for the folder and file names. You may find the missing items in there.

Always add the release (year) of s01e01 to the folder name, as detailed in https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-tv-show-files/

For shows which only exist on TheTVDB, but not on TheMovieDB as well, you also better add a “matching hint” with the TVDB ID number, i.e.

   /Nazis Threads of Evil (2025) - {tvdb-475833}
      /Season 01
         Nazis Threads of Evil - s01e01.ext
         Nazis Threads of Evil - s01e02.ext
         Nazis Threads of Evil - s01e03.ext
         ...

Keep in mind that you cannot mix episodic and non-episodic items (i.e. Series and Movies) within the same library. You will have to create separate libraries for these. Documentaries can come either as a Series or a Movie.

After failed attempts to add something to a library, you may have to perform the Plex Dance as a last resort. But wait at least 3 days before you try it, as new items are not ingested into Plex immediately.
