How is Plex making it outside?

Server Version#: 4.141.0
Player Version#: Various

I just changed firewalls.

I have an account with a dynamic dns host so family can access my Plex server by fqdn and it has been working for years. On the old firewall I had firewall rules allowing access to Plex on its usual port.

I have NOT yet configured port forwarding on the new firewall, but I am currently streaming to two remote clients, and the Plex server is showing the streams.

How did these remote clients access Plex if port forwarding is not configured, and is this a risk?

Thanks.

Most likely via a relay

Your new router could also have UPnP enabled, so your Plex instance automatically set up the port forward.
