What happens if you make an “Other Videos” library that points to the same location for all these photos? Are they in a format that Plex would recognize as video and properly play them? If so, it could be a valid workaround without having to manually edit all your videos if the player for “other videos” handles orientation flags.
@Divideby0 haven’t tried this, I don’t really have the time to test this workaround - i’d like this issue resolved correctly by plex devs.
Some of my videos are playing upside down also. Transcoding corrects is as a temp. fix. Is anyone working on this?

Keeping this thread open as it’s still an issue. I have all my home movies in a “movies” library and not a photo library and the same issue occurs with some videos playing upside down. Transcoding does work to fix the problem but causes other playback issues for me due to my server being older. This error occurs on most plex clients i own however currently I’m using the android TV app on a Sony A8H oled with the most current plex media player build.

I too have the same problem. Any videos taken on my Galaxy S10 in Portrait mode play on there side on the Samsung TV App.
I have something new. Unfortunately nothing good…
With the new amazon fire tv 4k MAX i cant play any of my private videos! i hear sound but no video. the only thing that happens, is that the load circle is running and the video thumbnail is maximized on the screen, but no video. on non MAX version the videos are playing upside down as they do since 2 years now…
