How to access System Settings ?

I’ve got the latest version on an Intel NUC that used to work fine with OpenElec + PHT

I’ve tried both the generic and intel versions, but both of them after installing don’t run the wizard or allow me to get into System preferences. When I select system preferences, it does nothing. Is there a way to run the wizard or get into system preferences? thanks.

That you don’t get the wizard is very strange, as this should start automatically in the very first run after installation. If that doesn’t happen, the integrity of the installation is doubtful, but let’s look at your other problems anyway.

If I understood your post correctly you do get the NUC to boot into the normal OpenPHT main menu, but when you open the side menu and try to go into the ‘System preferences’ nothing happens. Right ?

Does this apply to both of the submenu entries “Preferences” and “System Settings” ?
(I have to ask since there is no “System Preferences” entry)

Or is it possible that you meant the deeper submenu ‘Preferences > System(== cogwheel icon)’ ?
Please use exactly the same strings as shown by the program, so we don’t misunderstand what you mean.

If you can’t use any of the submenus, then I guess there is a problem with your control interface.
Are you using a USB keyboard or an IR remote controller or something else to navigate the OpenPHT menus ?
For the case of a TV set IR remote the problem could be related to changes of the CEC protocol usage.

I’ll double check when I get back home. I’m able to get into the Plex setting menu without issue. Both times after installing it booted up to the main menu and all the items were just listed as search. I then went left. Then signed into Plex and I’m able to access all my content. I’ll update this again when I get home.

I did the following, and it seems to be working now, not sure what the issue was.

  • Updated Bios to latest on intel’s site for my NUC BIOS Update [WYLPT10H.86A]
  • Re-downloaded and ‘burned’ the OpenPHT-Embedded-1.6.2.123-e23a7eef-Intel_EGL.x86_64.img file to a usb thumbdrive with Win32DiskImager
  • Booted from usb on NUC via F10 menu, ran through the installer wiping the drive not doing an upgrade.
  • Removed bootable media and rebooted at the end as prompted.
  • Rebooted and it loaded into OpenPHT with all the menu items as ‘Search’ I left it here for over 5 minutes to see if it would do anything. It did not.
  • I selected reboot from the menu and it rebooted successfully and came back up and loaded the wizard. I was able to run through the wizard and start pre-cacheing my server.

Not sure what the issue was, but it’s working now. I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to assist me! Hope you have a good weekend!
