I currently have a 4Tb Mycloud Home external drive being used with Plex. I ran out of space and read that you can access two externals through Plex at the same time by selecting add folder. Bought another 4Tb Mycloud Home and now I can’t access it. Watched videos on how to do it and they all show the add folder option. When I click on all the same things, that option never appears. I can add a new category ie movies, but there is no selection to add folder. Any help would be wonderful.
I assume your Plex Media Server is running on the 1st MyCloud NAS?
This is going to be a bit of a challenge based on how Plex works on that particular platform. On the MyCloud, your libraries are more or less hard-wired to the default folders in the WD MyCloud file system. You cannot change that hard-wiring.
On other platforms you can easily mount the external HDD or remote NAS into your PMS’ local file system. Those additional folders can then be linked to an existing library (or used for additional libraries).
As for your particular use case… if you’re ok to have the different content in separate libraries you can create a separate Plex Media Server on the 2nd WD MyCloud. Inside your players you can then pin the libraries of both Plex Media Servers to your main navigation (you might need to do that individually for each player).
So with the Mycloud there’s no way of accessing both servers at once?
At least no practical ones.
I suppose you could mount the individual movie folders from the 2nd NAS into the Plex Shared Movies folder of the 1st NAS… but you’d have to do that for every single movie.
