How to achieve Radio and/or Playlists to Truly Shuffle Randomly

Server Version#: 1.20.2.3402
Player Version#: 3.2.1

I’m trying to understand if this issue is me or is an issue within Plex itself.

I am stunned by how the Radios play the same songs constantly and how it seems to even play too many songs within the same album within a short period of time to one another.

I’ve come to the conclusion that Radio seems to be designed to mimic a commercial radio station in that it just loves to play the same songs over and over and over. Maybe it isn’t for me – fine.

Since I’ve got a massive music library, I’d like to actually hear less played music and have some actual randomness to my listening.

Ok, so I’ve got a playlist “All Music” which contains, well, all the music in the library. I select that playlist and tell it to shuffle. Well, its doing the same thing that the Radio was doing. It plays highly rated tracks consecutively and I’m hearing songs and artists I’ve heard way too frequently already since PlexAmp 3.x came out.

I have set, within PMS, Settings–>Manage–>Libraries–>Music–>Edit–>Advanced–>Popular Tracks to unchecked, too.

What does one have to do here to get this to stop happening? It’s making me insane.

2 options

  1. uncheck this

  2. [TIP] --- how to create an autoplaylist with random sort

also, your all music playlist is doing exactly that (all music).

but what you seem to want is (all music that I have not heard recently)

which is not the same thing.

the #2 link will give you an example of how to avoid recently heard music from even being in the playlist.

Thank you. I will try both of these.
