I have a pretty large personal video collection. I am tryng to better understand how to organize folders and rename the files to help plex reckognize them.
I have a Synology NAS and was used to Videostation, but I am lookin for smomething smarter than that.
If I use the “other video” option, I don’t get how plex orgaqnize files. Sometimes he get the date file, sometimes he get the date written into the file… even if the name file is always the same (like name - 01.12.21 - other). Furthermore, I can’t get a good division by folder, Even if the files are stored in different folder, I see them all togheter and i need to do collection tags manually. I don’t like collection tags because I can filter the video only by date and name.
If I use the “TV shows” option it reckognise automatically folders and seasons, but he reads only the episode number or the correct date. I have them both in the file, but how he read them seems pretty unreliable. I am using this format Name - 01.12.21 - e01 . If he reckognise the episode, he does not use the “name” in the properties, but the date when the file was uploaded.
I don’t know that I am doing wrong, I simply want video files that are visibily stored in different folders, ordered by episode and with the correct date .
