Apologies for digging up an old post, but this is the exact topic I was going to post. I understand the answer. I understand “how” to do this in PexAmp, but I don’t understand where Plex is getting the info to determine if an album is a live album or not. I am assuming it comes from the (in my case it would be the ID3 Tags of my MP3 files) ?
I’m asking because I have this exact filer in place and it doesn’t seem to work. What specific data in my MP3 and FLAC files can I edit to make sure Plex knows it’s from a live album?
It seems that without any subtype tags on my albums, Plex already knows which albums are live / in concert, which ones are remix, etc. I assume this is from backend info on the Plex servers. So what’s the advantage of manually tagging my albums with subtypes if Plex already seems to know this?
Plex matches all releases against the database from musicbrainz.org , which has a lot but not everything. If the release isn’t in there, you’ll have to write the tag yourself.
