I have 1289 files in my movie library but Alex is only showing 1262.
how can figure out which files plex missed with out manually going through each one?

I’d recommend your first check be the “Duplicates” filter for your movies library:
Some movies, depending on your file names, may have been detected as duplicates. If so, you can “Split” them apart from the menu accessed by clicking the vertical ellipsis in the bottom-right of the item’s poster. Though it would be better for you to correct your file names so that they’re not detected as duplicates to begin with.
Also be aware that if you’ve created any collections, and you’re viewing “By Title,” you may see a count which is lower than the actual number of movies in your library. This is because movies in a collection may be excluded from that view. To check, view by anything else (Year, for example).

Yeah. PLEX doesn’t normally ignore a movie. It wil just think it is something else.
