Hi there, I have an apple tv using plexConnect in my bedroom. In a week we will go for vacation, and I thought of taking the atv with me for the kids to see some movies in the evenings.
But will it work? As the dns-setup call 192.168.0.x in the trailer-app, or will it ping out and then it working playing through my plex account?
Anyone tried this?
You need PlexConnect running in your remote site, so that you can login to MyPlex and stream from PMS to the ATV.
If the ATV is an ATV2, you can install PlexConnect on it. If it's an ATV3 you need to install PlexConnect on your laptop.
Another possibility if laptop is a Mac: Just take it and not the aTV. Logon to MyPlex and play the movie on the laptop. You can attach an hdmi cable between the laptop and a tv, then set the laptop to use the TV as display. Of course you will need the correct end connector for the mac. I would suggest you get comfortable with the process of hooking up and setting the mac while still at home.
