How to delete ALL art and posters imported by PLEX

I am having great difficulty preventing PLEX from searching the internet for art/posters related to my media content. I have selected “Local Media Assets” in ALL libraries and put it first on the list, typically followed by “Personal Media”.

The last time I deleted and re-loaded all my music library, PLEX went out to the internet and found art that it assigned to almost all my music and audiobooks. Unfortunately, I do not like ANY of it, and much of it is wrong.

Is there a way to delete all this junk?

Has it embedded itself in the TAG information of these music files?

Is there a file somewhere on the system that I can delete to get rid of it?

If I delete this Music Library again, then recreate it, what can I do to stop this?

What if I re-load the music file into the re-created Music Library without the media server being connected to the internet? Will that stop it?

Can I replace these lousy images with images of my own? How do I do that?

Please help, this is frustrating me greatly.

Have you inspected your media folders for hidden graphics files? (those are often created by Windows Media Player).
They can cause major album art mismatches – if they are in the root folder of your music, they may even appear on all artists and albums.

That sets the order when using a specific agent. When you create a library you still need to choose which agent to use. Recreate your library.

  • create new library
  • select music
  • select the location of your music
  • select basic music library
  • scroll down, find the drop down field for “Agent”
  • select “Personal Media Artist”

Now Plex will not use any info from the internet.

Rest assured.
Plex does not write/edit/modify any embedded metadata.
