How to delete/rename sharing labels

I've created a number of labels in to filter and control sharing of content in PMS. I need to rename and delete some of these labels but can't work out how to do it.

you need to remove them from the items you put them on.  

filter by the label you want to remove in the library

multi-select ( shift click first item then shift click last item is the quickest way to select all of them )

edit

remove label and save

The labels I want to delete are not applied to any media, however they still come up in the list of available labels. Is there are config file somewhere that holds the master label list which I can edit to delete the unused labels?

I have the same issue. I have a label that is not applied to any media or user, yet it still shows in the list. How do you remove an unused label?

it should be removed automatically. i filed a bug report with devs. i do not know when it might be fixed

Just FYI something i did not know. unused labels are removed after a database optimize . you can set it to optimize every week in the scheduled task settings or just manually optimize when you see fit.

I inadvertently gave two labels - one in Movies and one in TV - the same name. I have tried deleting the TV label from all media and optimizing the database, but the TV label still shows up in my list when assigning labels to movies. Can you help me delete or rename the TV label?

Oops! Just realized these labels are the same except for a hyphen in one but not the other. Still confusing when assigning labels to movies and users. Just want to delete the second label, but it does not go away when I optimize the database.

I just verified this just now. If you want the unused labels removed immediately without having to wait on your schedule, follow these steps:

Settings > Troubleshooting > Optimize Database

Of course, you will have to remove the label from all media that the label is currently assigned to for this to work.
