Is there a way to disable the Announcement category of notifications?
These advertisements hold no value for me, and I would like a way to disable them at the account level. I’ve searched for such an option, but I haven’t found anything.

You can unsubscribe from Plex’ newsletters but not from the announcement feed.
I suppose it’s a thin line between updates on features and some marketing…

Very disappointing if true. I realize they’re not all ads, but I do find them to be an unwanted annoyance on a service I’ve already paid to use. I suppose I’ll just have to reflect these feelings in my reviews of the application.

Are we talking about the announcement entry in the account menu?
You need to open the account menu to even see the yellow circle indicating some new announcement is available – and then you need to actively click on that to see the overview page?
I feel really off for not considering this spam.
To me… spam is unsolicited mails that get mixed into my inbox and which I need to disentangle from my regular mails – not an information page I need to actively look up.
But hey… maybe I’m looking at it all wrong 
I generally have no notifications on my server. These tag my account icon with a notification bubble that cannot be cleared unless I view the announcements. There are no useful pieces of communication in that section, and some of them are outright ads. Spam wasn’t my word, but they are becoming more frequent and therefore more bothersome. At the very least, it’s clear that I’m not the only one that finds them to be a nuisance.
@tom80H You’re right, spam might be a little extreme but I tend to consider every communication I didn’t ask for as spam: emails, texts, notifications…
Or, in this case, interface cluttering with a badge as explained by @BleachedBlind
I’d really like a setting to disable at least the badge, I wouldn’t mind the announcement section if I wasn’t forced to go there because of the badge.
It’s annoying if you’re active on the forums.
