How to enable Remote Access to be enabled permanently while the Plex Media server and the VPN is running on the same computer?
I’m currently using the ExpressVPN latest version and have done all the necessary settings for my router and Plex Media Server in enabling the Port Forwarding feature. When the VPN is turn on, I notice the Plex Media Server Remote Access will only work for few seconds and then it turns to be unavailable until I turn off the VPN and refresh it again.
I have also try the ExpressVPN setting to exclude Plex Media Server under it’s Managing Connection for Split Tunneling. The Remote Access will work indefinitely but I discover an error. Any media with external subtitles will encounter ‘Playback Error. Conversion failed. The transcoder failed to start up.’ error.
This error is cause by any media files with external subtitle enclosed. However, when the subtitle is turn to off, the media will play as normal even when ExpressVPN is still turn on. When the ExpressVPN is turn off, all the media with the external subtitles will be able to play as per normal as well and the Remote Access is still at enabled status and accessible by Plex client using external network.
Can anyone help and perhaps share with me your experiences on how you manage to enable Remote Access for Plex Media Server with VPN running on the same computer?
