How to find missing media files

Server Version#: openmediavault current version
Player Version#: plex media server current version

Hi there, i am using flex media server on openmediavault, all current versions.
How can i compare my movie list on plex for example with the movie list in my directory? Because i think there are some missing.
Sincerly

Everyone seems to refer people to this 3rd-party tool for this question. I haven’t tried it myself, but it seems to be the tool for the job:

If there’s a discrepancy between the number of files you have vs. what Plex shows, the first place I would look is for duplicates.

Unless you accidently put tv shows in a movie library or movies in a tv library they usually show up, even if they’re not pulling metadata

You can filter for duplicates.

For tv shows you have to change it from TV shows to episodes before you use the filter

If you find anything, click the 3 dots and choose “get info”
That will tell you what files are being combined

Those files need to be renamed

Check whether Collections have been automatically created. All movies inside such a collection will be reduced to one poster in your library by default.

A quick check is to change the sorting order of your library from “by Title” to something else, like “by year”. If the item count number at the top is suddenly getting larger, you are affected by these collections.

Another thing to check is Duplicates. There is a filter for that.
Open the plex media info for each item which is shown as duplicate and inspect the file and folder names shown there. You might find that some unrelated movies have been merged. This is usually caused by bad naming. https://support.plex.tv/articles/categories/your-media/

Thanks for the quick response. The webtopl i have to test.
Im using plex mostly for movies. Like a 1000.
With a lot of special editions and fan edits. And of course i have the originals.
There for im searching for an easy way to check.

Then you should familiarize yourself with https://support.plex.tv/articles/multiple-editions/ because by default many of these custom versions will be merged with the “main” edition of the movie.
