I use Plex to DVR live tv quite a lot and most of the time it works fine.
However sometimes I find that something set to record was never recorded. Are there some log files or similar somewhere so I can try and track down WHY some recordings fail?
Thanks. Any pointers to anything that logs recordings or recording failures? It’s not obvious from the log file names!!
‘Plex Media Server.log’ and .1-.5 are the main ones, search for failed or ERROR. You will want to make sure the server log level is set to debug without verbose. If you had verbose on you will have to uncheck and reboot. There are some some ERROR messages that are actually normal but after you watch a few streams startup you will identify them.
Basic reasons for failure:
Signal
Scheduling Conflict
Space
Permissions
You don’t mention which tuner you have, hdhom runs can have network and USB or internal cards have driver issues.
If it is a pseudo or Satellite adapter, you are on you own.

Tuner is a standard ‘approved’ Hauppage USB dual channel one.
