Tracking DVR failures

Tuner Make/Model: WinTV-dualHD

I find that the DVR occasionally fails to record something for no apparent reason.
I’m specifically talking about when a recording just doesn’t happen at all - you set something to record and nothing at all visible happens.
Anyone know how you find out WHY a recording didn’t happen?
I’m sure it’s in the logs somewhere but a pointer would be helpful.

To be fair, most recording work but it’s really annoying when you specifically want something then realise some weeks later that it’s just not there!!

Thanks. i’d found the logfiles ok but there are so many, I wasn’t sure what to look in to find details of (failed) DVR.

Depending on activity they roll over but start with “Plex Media Server.log”.

About to check the logs but everything I have tried to record today has failed with “The recording was not started because airing was in progress”.
What on earth does this mean? Googling seems to find nothing?

Check your system clock, be sure it is synced up and correct timezone and then restart your system. With the DST change this weekend your system might of had a problem. Assuming you are on Windows, make sure the server isn’t going to sleep.

Despite the less than obvious error message, the problem turned out to have been the aerial cable fallen out of the wall socket!
