I stumbled across an existing post as I was having the exact same problem. Another user named “nurbles” had posted the question.
I just want to say that the moderator, OttoKerner, seemed borderline rude/sarcastic. I’ve been using Plex for a couple of years now and have loved it. I’ve even recommended it to countless family members, friends, and colleagues. I am directly responsible for some of the revenue being generated for Plex. So please take this seriously. When I strongly recommend Plex to someone and rave about how good it is, I expect the support from Plex to reflect the high-quality of the product itself. I do not want my friends, family, and colleagues to trust my word about something, and then be belittled and disrespected like this when they have a problem. As a developer myself, I would appreciate the clear and detailed information the user “nurbles” was providing, and so should Plex.
Regarding the actual problem. My understanding reading through the previous post is that I would have to completely remove my Movies library, and re-add it using the agent I want to use, or at least it’s easier than manually merging hundreds of duplicate movies.
The way it was explained that “Refresh All Metadata” works is a bit frustrating, that it updates based on the original agent only, as apposed to the newly selected one. Please pass my feedback on to the developers that maybe it would makes sense for those of us wanting to update all metadata using the currently selected agent to program that option in.
