I have one artist with a couple of major-label releases that match just fine, and also a series of bootleg releases that are definitely not available using any agent. I’m okay with that! I have manually set up the metadata for these nine albums, including poster art, and locked every field to avoid changes.
In fact, I’ve done that three times now, because Plex keeps ignoring the locks and matching all nine bootleg releases to one of the major-label releases! I end up with all of the poster art images attached to the one release, and hundreds of tracks.
I don’t want to make changes that will affect the rest of the library, but I very much do want to stop Plex from clobbering these albums. Is that possible? Right now I’ve set the album to “WHATEVER 1-9 Plex keeps breaking this DESPITE THE LOCK” in hopes that maybe that at least will foil Plex’s unwanted auto-matcher.
P.S. I’ve had “Prefer local metadata” turned off, because I really don’t know what state my ID3tags are in, and don’t really want to find out. But if that’s the solution, I guess I can take my chances with the other albums to avoid having to redo these nine.
