I just managed to successfully move my Plex install to a new Windows11-compatible PC but the old server is still listed as a program source along with a friends old server that he moved as well. How can I delete these old sources? They are not listed under Authorized Devices on my account.
Find your friend’s user name here: https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/manage-library-access
click on it
edit the servers that “You have access to” and “Leave Server”
to remove their old server from your side bar.
Does your old server appear in the same location? If so, you can revoke their access there as well.
Thanks! That did the trick for my friends old server but my old server does not appear under my new user name, possible because I did change user names on this machine. All I see is my new server.
Does that mean the server in question is currently claimed with a different plex user account?
Is it shared to your current user account?
If so, please tell me its name (per PM if you want). I can delete it.
Apart from that, you can unpin/un-favorite old media sources in all client types.

If a server remains shut down for several weeks, it will vanish from the available media sources eventually.
Okay, I think I’ve finally got this mess straightened out. Both the Plex internet app and my local Plex app eventually gave me the option to remove the old local server once it couldn’t reach it after a certain amount of time, which I did. In the meantime I was seeing two different occurances of my new server under authorized devices and decided to delete the one with the oldest date. That was a mistake because apparently they were one and the same. Then I went through this rigamarole of trying to reclaim the new server, which wouldn’t work until I started the local Plex web server from the system tray.
Now I’m crossing my fingers that I’ve done enough trial and error to fix my Chromecast Plex app.
I have a similar situation… had an old server experience a complete hardware failure (we’ll call that “DEDSRV”) but all media is hosted on external storage. I built a new server (we’ll call it “NEWSRV”) and configured it with a new server name, but same mappings to storage, etc. It’s now been 7+ months with the DEDSRV unavailable and neither my account nor my managed accounts are able to remove the DEDSRV sources. Yes, I’ve gone through and removed them from the pinned content etc so they don’t show up there, but it still shows up as an offline server continuously. So while I would love it if the server cleanup would happen automatically at this point I don’t think that’s working.
Both servers were tied to my same PlexPass/account, for the record.
Did you also remove it from your list of authorized devices (via the web app):

Thank you! I’d looked all over for that but hadn’t found it… fixed!
