How to listen to Plex video with screen off/locked (and control via Bluetooth)

After many years wishing I could listen to Plex video streams with my phone screen off/locked and in my pocket, I finally discovered it is possible on my Android 10 phone, though not sure this works universally across current phones, or just on my Android 10 Motorola edge+ due to its particular lock screen implementation.

What works for me: With video playing in Plex, lock the phone with the power button, causing playback to pause. But now on my lock screen, I see a Plex media control notification where I can click play, causing video to resume in background, and my screen goes dark, and phone goes into pocket.

Even better, Moto Peek Display (“always on display”) shows media controls as long as the video is playing, though it disappears if video is paused, so I then simply have to press power button to access the Plex media control notification on the Android lock screen.

“Even even” better, I can play/pause Plex with my Bluetooth earpiece, though note, this requires the Plex app to have Contacts permission in Android settings, for some reason.

Figured I’d post this here since I’ve seen many other similar posts over the years looking for this ability. Again, not sure if this works on any Android 10 phone, or just Moto devices.
