How to manually install a Plex Server Update *.deb file on unRAID box?

From the other articles I have searched trying to find an answer, it seems they address updating the docker or the plugin for Plex Server on unRAID webGUI.

In the Plex Sever webGUI General settings tab it indicates there is an update and to manually install this update from version 0.9.15.2 to 0.9.15.3.1674.

In the Plugins portion of my unRAID webGUI there is no update indicated and in the plex server portion of the docker there is no update indicated.

I am not very familiar with Linux and I am still learning Plex and unRAID.

Thank you.
Mark

You just need to stop and restart the docker for plex to auto update to latest version

This isnt working at the moment for me. I’ve always just stopped the docker and restarted but it seems to be messed up now. When looking at the web GUI it states “A Plex Media Server update is available! Download now” but never installs it. I’ve checked the logs and it says no update needed but I can tell that is wrong. Im using the linuxserver.io docker setup with plexpass downloads. It has always worked in the past and yes I have the version set as “plexpass”. Any ideas on what may be happening?

Mine is doing the same thing.

Edit - There is a new container image - download it and it fixes the problem.

I had the same trouble and tried what you guys has discussed here also and it worked just fine for me. What Plex server do you use?

Looks like that may have worked. All that i did was stop the plex docker, then click check for updates button next to the add container button. Not much seemed to happen at that point. but when i restarted the plex docker and checked the logs, it had taken the newest update. Thanks for all your help guys, Hope this helps someone else out in the future.

For Robban604:

Im using the linuxserver.io docker and was trying to update from plex version 0.9.16.3 to version 0.9.16.4. No matter what how many times that I stopped and restarted the docker, it wouldnt take the update. Thats the way that ive updated since switching over to the linuxserver.io docker. I used the needo docker before this but it got corrupted and I decided to switch over to the linuxserver.io docker because Im a plexpass member and I like to have the newest updates. I used Dystaxia’s advice and it worked perfectly.

stop and start the docker did here the trick, al the other dockers gives me a update notification but ok, its working…

Well did i saw this in the Logbook: (the first one)

VERSION=plexpass is depricated please use version latest
Target version: 0.9.16.6.1993-5089475 set by: latest\plexpass
Upgrading from version: 0.9.16.4.1911-ee6e505 to version: 0.9.16.6.1993-5089475

I would appreciate it if someone could please tell me how to manually install an update. I have one of the servers with intermittent playback on the LiveTV tuner, so I would like to install the latest beta version to fix this until the next full release. However, it does not show when I use “check for updates” in the docker screen. I do have the .deb file, but do not know where to store it to be recognized by plex. Also, forcing the update does not recognize the file either.
Any help would be appreciated.
