So, yet again, the updates to plex are not being pushed to the unRAID docker. I check for updates, says its up to date but when i open plex, still says it needs an update. The lack of support for a paid service is starting to really get under my nerves. The following are screen shots from today, March 8 2018. The update has been out for at least a week now. Is there a step by step guide for manually updating for a complete noob when it comes to doing it by command prompt? Anything I’ve found is so vague that its not worth the attempt and messing up and losing all data.
It looks like you are using the Limetech container and that requires them to do the update.
If you use Plexinc or LinuxServer.io containers they will automatically pull the latest version when restarting the container.
Then, if you see a new version in the Plex GUI just restart the container, don’t update trough the GUI.
I run Plex `s container and got the update the day after i posted my response here.
Now I’m running a parallel server with Linuxserver. Io and they seems faster to update there container.
You should be able to switch between containers if you map your folders for media and meta data correctly. First stop the Limetech container and when you have the new one running you can delete the old one.
When I see that Plex has an update but the docker does not, you can switch to advanced view from “Basic View” in the top left corner and force update (which will be where the “up to date” is in basic view) the docker container and it will update PMS for you.
hmmm…so i changed to the official plex and all my media show unavailable. I have the host path 2 set to my transcode folder, and the host path 3 set to my media folder. if i go up a level on the host path 3, same thing. rebooted/restarted same issue.
everything shows fine. just it all says unavailable.
